Use Mnem with Claude Code

Give the terminal agent a memory: context, conventions, and decisions follow you across repositories and sessions.

What you get

  • Memory tools available in every Claude Code session, in any directory
  • Recall of decisions made in other tools while you work in the terminal
  • Optional capture of session takeaways — opt-in

Connect

One-click setup from the Connections panel.

  1. Open Connections

Click the Mnem icon in your menu bar (macOS) or system tray (Windows) and open the Connections panel.

  2. Connect Claude Code

Click Connect. Mnem registers itself at user scope, so it's available in every project — no per-repo setup.

  3. Or add it from the CLI

Prefer the terminal? Run the command shown under Manual configuration below.

  4. Verify

Run /mcp inside a session, or claude mcp list, and confirm mnem is connected.

Manual configuration

The exact command — with the correct path for your install — is shown in Mnem's Connections panel under Claude Code → Manual setup.

# macOS
claude mcp add --scope user mnem /Applications/Mnem.app/Contents/MacOS/mnem-mcp

# Windows
claude mcp add --scope user mnem "C:\Program Files\Mnem\mnem-mcp.exe"

Troubleshooting

If tools appear in one project but not another, the server was probably added at local scope; re-add it with --scope user. After changing scopes, start a fresh session.
