Use Mnem with Claude Desktop
Claude Desktop with a real past: recall preferences and prior work mid-conversation, and remember new facts without copy-paste.
What you get
- Memory tools (
recall, remember, and friends) available inside Claude conversations - One memory shared with Cursor, Zed, and every other connected app
- Optional auto-capture of your Claude exchanges — opt-in, pause anytime
Connect
One-click setup from the Connections panel.
-
Open Connections
Click the Mnem icon in your menu bar (macOS) or system tray (Windows) and open the Connections panel.
-
Connect Claude Desktop
Click Connect. Mnem adds itself to Claude Desktop's MCP configuration file, preserving any servers you already have.
-
Fully quit and relaunch Claude
Use ⌘Q on macOS or File → Exit on Windows — closing the window is not enough. Claude Desktop loads MCP servers only at launch.
-
Verify
Open the tools menu in a new conversation and confirm the
mnemtools are listed.
Troubleshooting
The most common issue is not fully quitting Claude — quit it fully (⌘Q on macOS, File → Exit on Windows) and reopen. If you had hand-edited the config before and it contains invalid JSON, the Connections panel will flag it and offer to repair the file.
